Wildix: Connecting Yealingk T-XX series phones

It is possible to connect a basic SIP device such as a Yealink T-23 or T-45 phone to Wildix.  However there are a number of disadvantages when contrasted with a Wildix device:

  • The phones will need to be manually programmed to connect to the PBX
  • Changes you make to the BLF buttons on your account will appear in Collaboration and the on the app but are not reflected on the SIP phone
  • NAT audio and DTMF codes can be problematic

To connect a phone follow these steps:

  • <Start of procedure>
  • Make sure you have the hostname, extension number and SIP password to hand.  Not the web password!
  • Power the phone on and use the Menu Soft Button and Status option to find the phone's IP address
  • Enter the phone's IP address into a web browser and log in with a username of admin and a password of admin
    • If the username and password is not accepted, factory reset the phone by pressing the Ok button for 10 seconds and then pressing Ok Soft Button to confirm the factory reset
    • If the username and password are still not accepted it's likely the phone is factory-programmed to use a different phone service.  There are ways around this involving blocking the DNS & IP of the Yealink provisioing servers but it is unreliable.
  • Once logged in, do the following:
    • Click on the accounts tab
    • Line Active = Enabled
    • Label = User's name
    • Display Name = Extension number
    • Register name = Extension number
    • Username = Extension number
    • Password = SIP password
    • Serverhost = <hostname of Wildix PBX, normally xxxx.wildixin.com> Port 5060
    • Click on [Confirm] button to save the settings.  The phone should register with the PBX, you can check by looking at the Register Status field at the top which will say Registered
    • Click on the Advanced tab on the left-hand side
    • DTMF-Type = SIP-INFO
    • DTMF Info Type = DTMF-Relay
    • DTMF Payload Type = 101
    • Click on [Confirm] to save settings
  • <End of procedure>
